Every week I’ll be giving you a review of a song. Now this could be a song in the chart I like (or one I hate) or something a bit different I’ve found on this ‘ere interweb. I’ll also be teaming up with my alter ego (get your head round that one) to bring you a bootleg. That’s songs mixed together rather than the live recording kind. |

Gorillaz – Dirty Harry I have to be straight with you from the outset here. I don’t actually like this. Sort of. The backing is brilliant, the kids singing with Damon is ace, but…. It just doesn’t go anywhere. And that rapping the middle is frankly rubbish. Plus I heard this first: Audio Shrapnel - Gorilla Manuvaz Gorillaz – Dirty Harry vs Roots Manuva - Witness OK – so now this is a review of that. The vocals fit in perfectly with the Gorillaz track and show exactly what could have been achieved with that excellent instrumental. When the Radio One advert on the BBC first came out, all I could sing to myself was the chorus from this bootleg. It’s not the best bootleg ever, and it does tend to drag, but it does improve on the original. Which is exactly the point. 3/5 (4/5 for the chorus) |
