Doctor Who (BBC1 - Saturday, 7pm)
by Craig/Neale
Hi this is Neale.
And this is *checks name tag* Craig.
And we've just finished watching the final episode in the current series of Doctor Who.
Me being slightly significantly later at doing so than Neale.
How could you go out and not watch it? Tsk.
Because... Well... I'd like to say I was being slightly less geeky by having a social life, I was however at a friend's house playing computer games.
*rolls eyes*
Anyway. So after last week's amazing cliffhanger with both the Daleks and the Cybermen against the Doctor, I had high hopes for this episode. And it did not disappoint.
Well, all week I've been pretty much saying "OMG, Daleks and Cybermen in the same episode!!!" with every other sentence... So naturally, I was excited. I got a little confused in some points, but heck - it was all good in the end.
I think it's safe to say that in terms of storyline, this was one of the best of the new lot of episodes. I do have a couple of niggles though.
Do tell, do tell.
Pete Tyler appearing towards the end - you know what bit I'm on about. How did he know?!
Parental instinct I guess, although I did like it cause my inner geek was crying out "NIGHTCRAWLER!!!"
Lmao!
Oh yes, one month on and the X-Men references are still here. So, what did you think about the whole dimension flip thing as a whole?
Hmm... To be honest, they could've had fluffy pink rabbits and I wouldn't have cared. It was all about the Daleks and Cybermen.
I guess so, but I was a little sceptical. I mean, sure, it worked for the context of the episode, but it was a little contradictory from back when the Doctor said it was impossible to flip between dimensions back in the original Cybermen episode of this series.
It's all thanks to Torchwood. *rolls eyes* That's one thing I've not liked about this series - it being all one big advert for the new show.
It's all thanks to the blooming Daleks for taking the void ship and breaking a hole in the..... NO!!! No spoilers darnit!!!
I guess the Pete thing was the main confusing point. It was quite jarring for me; as soon as I saw it I thought 'that's not right'. Which brings me to the ending.
"What?"
Hmm...exactly.
It might have been a bit vague, but don't try and tell me you're not looking forward to the Christmas special.
Well of course I am. But it wasn't that it was vague. Without giving any spoilers away, it's safe to say most people watching will have been very emotional at that point, and instead of ending it right then and there, they go and do a 'comedy' bit.
I actually thought that was quite clever, I don't want to walk away from possibly my favourite TV show of the moment (aside from cartoons and wrestling) feeling all down and mopey, I was glad they pulled it out of the mournful departure.
Yes ok, they did sort of the same at the end of the last series, when the regeneration had just taken place, and you had a grinning David Tennant. But I thought that was done much better.
I guess so, but at least now we've got the suspense of how you-know-who got inside you-know-where... Not to give anything away.
Nicely done... And you're right. I just hope they can keep up the same high standards for the Christmas special and the next series. I have to say, Doctor Who has been a highlight of recent weeks.
Yeah, and like the bloke on the BBC voiceover said, only 170 days until we find out what happens. Crikey, only 170 days til Christmas, bloomin heck, better start me shopping.
Do you think anyone is still reading?
Only those I have at gunpoint.
And that ends the review. Just one more Doctor Who thing before I go. The following quote I found on a forum; it details someone's idea about what they'd like to happen in the Christmas special. There's no way it could happen now, but I'd love it to happen next year:
"The Tardis materialises inside a run-down Victorian town house. Christopher Eccleston emerges, and enters the bedroom of an old man. He introduces himself to the old man as The Ghost of Christmas Past. This Doctor leads him on a journey into some of happiest and saddest moments of his past. On his return, the Tardis dematerialises and re-materialises straight away.
David Tennant steps out and introduces himself as the Ghost of Christmas Present, going on to show Scrooge (in case you haven't guessed) the meagre Christmas celebrations of the Cratchit family, the sweet nature of their crippled son, Tiny Tim, and a possible early death for the child, before again returning to the Tardis, which fades out and back in again.
A third Doctor emerges, veiled in a heavy cloak which reveals nothing but the eyes. The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come is a grim spectre, much more frightening that the other spirits, and it harrows Scrooge with visions of the Cratchit family bereft of Tiny Tim, of Scrooge's own lonely death and final torment, and the cold, avaricious reactions of the people around him after his passing.
In the morning we see the result of Scrooge's reformation, before watching the third Doctor return to the Tardis, dropping the cloak and revealing Billie Piper...
Cue music."

The world of Ramsey Street
by Neale
When I originally wrote this page about 2 months ago, there was no Neighbours thanks to Wimbledon, so I thought I'd let you all in on something special I found.
My friends - the Neighbours Archive!:

This is pretty damn ace - every Neighbours episode from 2000 onwards! If the above link doesn't work, try these direct links:

But I don't like him - the creepy weirdo.
