This should be the Showbiz feature, but instead I shall devote it to raging about the Oscar nominations which were released today: Best Picture – can’t fault these choices really. Glad to see Crash in there; would have liked to see Sin City as well, but hey, you can’t win all the time. I would like to point out though that IMHO, had Brokeback been released last year it would not be the frontrunner. Brokeback Mountain Capote Crash Good Night and Good Luck Munich Best Director Ang Lee - Brokeback Mountain Bennet Miller – Capote Paul Haggis – Crash George Clooney - Good Night and Good Luck Steven Spielberg - Munich Best Actor Philip Seymour Hoffman - Capote Terrence Howard - Hustle and Flow Heath Ledger - Brokeback Mountain – I know Philip Seymour Hoffman will win, but I’ll keep my fingers crossed for Heath. Joaquin Phoenix - Walk the Line David Strathairn - Good Night and Good Luck Best Actress Judi Dench - Mrs Henderson Presents - I have an irrational hatred of Judy, maybe it’s because she is so damn overrated. However I don’t hate her as much as I do Reese Witherspoon (*looks down this list*) Balls!! Felicity Huffman – Transamerica Keira Knightley - Pride and Prejudice – WHAT THE DUECE??!!! No really, of all the words I would never have wished to hear in my life, I think this is high on the list: “starring Academy Award nominee Keira Knightley”. RAGE, RAGE and more RAGE!!!
