Part 2 (and 3 and 4)
Human Trafficking (Sky One - Sundays, 10pm)
by Craig
Some might say that I’m being a bit of a cheaty cheater covering three episodes in one review, but it’s just so normal services can resume sooner… I promise…
Well, what can be said aside from, I watched the second episode in the state of mind that it was going to be a concluding part but oh no…cliffhanger ending leading to part three. I watched part three in the same state of mind but then once again, cliffhanger ending! DARNIT!!! But still I watched on and boy was I rewarded…
I want to thank the lovely people who made this mini-series for filling it with so many hooks and plot twists that, even drawn out over four weeks, I was left wanting more. It also came to my attention that this series was made in conjunction with a new worldwide scheme to stamp out this wretched crime from our cities and towns. So not only is it awesome TV, but it has a solid moral foundation too! I’m impressed.
Mr. Sutherland, although the parts he was in were absolutely awesome, didn’t actually do that much until the final episode, but we’ll cut him some slack, he is getting on a bit. And come on, it is Donald Sutherland after all; we don’t need to see him in every scene for him to impress us, we already know he’s good! Mr. Carlisle however impressed me no end, even with my knowledge of his acting skills, this was another totally new side to his acting repertoire. So, well done Mr. Carlisle.
There’s not a great deal more that can actually be said about this series. I’ve already said how awesome it was and how it left you wanting more, praised the actors, even the unknowns were brilliant in this. And right at the end of the final episode, it gave some rather shocking statistics to go with the human trafficking industry – like the fact that human trafficking is the third largest crime across the world following behind drug dealing and, I think, murder. Shocking stuff, eye-openingly brilliant…all I can say is, I’m glad I watched it. All of it…
Craiggy Rating: 12/10 – After watching the whole thing, this one gets a bumped up score, bonus points for the government campaign tie in.
